What Does Isaiah 65:20 Mean?

What Does Isaiah 65:20 Mean?

There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed. Isaiah 65:20 KJV

Today I would like to focus on the scripture we just read because it is one of those controversial passages regarding the new earth. Even my search for truth on this topic has been an adventure. There seem to be different answers and opinions to what this means. If we study this scripture and we evaluate everything related to the new earth as a whole, we can understand what the Lord was showing the prophet Isaiah when he spoke this many centuries ago.

You can read over the previous post titled “Who Will Occupy the Millennial Kingdom” to get more information as well. Let us begin by dissecting the first part of the scripture, There shall be no more thence an infant of days. This is where a person may wonder if infants will be born in the Millennial Kingdom. Jesus has stated that when this era is in progress, we will not be given in marriage or have children. We will be like the angels.

But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:  Luke 20:35 KJV

* The Millennial Reign *

During the millennial reign, this will be a time of peace, a time when the Lord’s faithful leaders will be ruling with the Lord Jesus, and obedience to Him will be of the utmost demand. He will have requests we must all honor and obey. He is, after all, the King and ruling in His rightful place. Free will will still be an option for all the residents of this new kingdom. Disobedience will still have a severe consequence. According to scripture and what we know from the Bible, any disobedience would be death. There would still be an inclination to disobedience with many because the Millennial Kingdom is not the final destination. The ones who disobey would be an example for others not to follow. There is still a place on earth that needs to exist without any enemies of God. There are still enemies lurking in the Kingdom that need to be uncovered. There remains a judgment that must take place after Satan is loosed.

* Satan is Bound for 1000 Years *

If you recall, Satan is bound and unable to deceive anyone for 1000 years. Once that time is up, he will have an opportunity to reveal the enemies of God. These would be people who are in the Kingdom but they still have a seed of deception brewing in their hearts. They may not act on it because the deceiver, the Father of lies is captive. He is not able to entice them to act upon this negative seed. Who would these people be? Good question! The Lord has revealed something to me but I still like to search and explore if what I hear in my heart is what lines up with His word.

* Peace On Earth *

The people on earth will be joyful and enjoy the fruit of their labor. No wars will be stirred up. There will be harmony. Let us recall when Adam and Eve lived in fellowship with the Lord, they lived for centuries. A relationship with the King will cause the people to live longer than we do now because in the presence of the Lord there is fullness of life. Many of the people from the Old Testament lived several hundred years and this is certainly much longer than people live now. Methuselah was recorded to have lived up to almost 1000 years of age. If people are to live long lives, then someone who dies at 100 years of age is still a child. They are very young in the Lord, so to speak.

* Who Are The Residents? *

This is what the Lord showed me… In addition to the people who are resurrected and the people who are instantly transformed, there are millions of babies. These babies have died over the centuries for various reasons. They do not simply cease to exist because they died before their time. This includes, babies that were aborted, miscarried, even sacrificed to pagan gods in evil rituals. They will have a chance to live out their lives in this Kingdom under the rule of the Almighty King. As they grow up and are taught the ways of life they have choices to make too. They have free will. Some may disobey and experience the punishment of the disobedience. These errors will be an example to others. This may seem harsh but if you recall how God dealt with the Israelites that disobeyed. Many were removed permanently, in order, to not contaminate others. The Lord is the same yesterday, today and forever. His ways are not our ways. The only difference here is Jesus will be on His throne on earth, ruling and judging according to His laws and ways. His faithful leaders will also be judging and ruling in their prospective locations.

* If A Sinner Dies in His Hundred Years *

A sinner would be someone who disobeys the Lord’s command. Adam disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden and this seed of error was passed on to every child born from that time. The seed was passed on to their children through the male gender not a woman. This is another reason why the children who are growing up in this era are still with the initial seed of the first fall during the Millennial Reign. Disobedience is what changes a state of harmony. This person who disobeys would be “deemed” accursed because he did not live out his full length of eternal life. In the Bible, eternal life is knowing the one true God and Jesus whom He has sent. (John 17:3). He will, unfortunately, rise to meet his final judgment at the white throne of the Father because of his disobedience.

And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8) And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9) And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. Revelation 20:10 KJV

After Satan is released from the 1000 year prison, and when this passage is fulfilled, the devil has finally been eliminated forever.

And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. Revelation 20:11 KJV

Hopefully this makes sense to you and you are able to see these truths. If it is difficult continue to meditate and study the scriptures. The Lord will show you as you seek to know His truths. Be blessed and take it in a little at a time.
