Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel. ~Psalms 78:41 KJV

Is it possible to limit God? It may seem strange to say YES but it is true we can limit God. How can we limit God? Well, for one thing, if you do not use your faith you can limit God working in your life. A lack of faith is our biggest enemy. Without faith it is impossible to please God. That’s powerful! Many people may say they don’t have faith but the Bible clearly states that we have been given “the” measure of faith. (Romans 12:3) A measurement is constant and does not change.

It is interesting to see how some translations do not have the scripture written as it is above and now does not have the same meaning.

Again and again they put God to the test; they vexed the Holy One of Israel. ~ Psalms 78:41 NIV

This translation says “vexed”. Vexed is another way of saying cursed but that changes the meaning.

Again and again they tempted God, And pained the Holy One of Israel. ~ Psalms 78:41 NASB

This translation says “pained”. We know the children of Israel were a “pain” many times but this word changes the meaning as well.

Again and again they tested God’s patience and provoked the Holy One of Israel. ~ Psalms 78:41 NLT

Clearly another example of how one word can change the meaning in a scripture. There are many times that the children of Israel provoked God with their unbelief but this clearly changes what the meaning of the scripture is supposed to be telling us. We, as a people of faith, can limit God in our lives.

Jesus was limited when he walked the earth ministering from town to town. He could not do many miracles in His own town because of their unbelief. Therefore, the people limited God working in their town. There were only a few people who the Lord Jesus could perform miracles on and they had to be taken out of town because of the influence of unbelief around them.

So ask yourself…Are you limiting God? God wants the best for you. He has only good plans. Believe His word, His promises and watch it work in your life. You are the variable in receiving from Him. Know Jesus personally and you will have greater success in walking out this life with more miracles, signs and wonders.
