The Father’s House

The Father’s House

Today’s topic will involve scriptures that mention the Father’s house. People have often explained Jesus is preparing a place in heaven but is that really what He is saying?

Let me start by saying the earth was created for God’s people to live or inhabit. That has not changed. The Lord promised the earth would not be destroyed. If you recall the bible says the Lord placed a rainbow to remind us of the covenant He would not destroy the earth.

And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. Genesis 9:16 KJV

The rainbow establishes the covenant. From this promise we must realize our (this means believers) eternal life will be on earth, as well.

In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:2 KJV

Jesus said, in His Father’s house are many mansions. We need to go to the book of Revelation to see the connection referring to the city of Jerusalem and the kingdom of God.

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Revelation 21:1–2 KJV

John saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven. This is showing us that the mansions everyone thinks are in heaven are actually going to be on earth. The Bible tells us the city will have a new name, which Ezekiel tells us the name.

It was round about eighteen thousand measures: and the name of the city from that day shall be, The Lord is there. Ezekiel 48:35 KJV

The city will be called, “the Lord is there.” In Hebrew it will be known as “Jehovah Shammah,” which means the same thing. It is a simple name but stating that the Lord Jesus will be in the city. This also means the people who live in the city are only the Jews (the house of Israel). These will be the family of the 12 tribes of Israel, who is also known as Jacob. I know this will burst a lot of Christian bubbles who think they will be living in the mansion but they will not. Jesus came for the lost sheep of ISRAEL, so they are the ones who will live in the city.

The Bible does tell us the nations of the world will come to visit the Lord that lives within these gates. Christians will have the honor of visiting the Lord anytime we want because the 4 gates (North, South, East and West) of the walled city will always have the pearly gates open.

And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. Revelation 21:24–26 KJV

I know people will be shocked, refuse to believe what is written here and even say this is not correct. Believe me I know! When I read that and understood this I was a bit upset but with the help of the Holy Spirit I was able to put things into perspective. If you read the scriptures slowly, mediate on them and pray you will see this is the truth. The Father’s house is within the walls of the city in the New Jerusalem. Jesus was speaking to the nation of Israel (aka Jacob) because Jesus was sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Matthew 15:24 KJV

So the mansions He is preparing are the houses that ISRAEL will live in, on earth in the new city of Jerusalem. The city called, “the Lord is there”.

But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months. Revelation 11:2 KJV

The court described here is referring to the part outside of the sanctuary. If you can, picture this with me. The place where the Lord lives and the tribes of Israel live is similar to the temple described in the Old Testament sanctuary. The place where the Lord lives is the holy of holies, the tribes live in the holy place that was veiled and the outer court is the area of the gentiles. Together it makes the whole temple, the dwelling place of God.

And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables; And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise. John 2:15-16 KJV

In this place of worship Jesus was shewing out the vendors because they did not value the Father. They were disrespecting the Father’s house. The Father’s house is the literal place of worship. This scripture is a physical/natural reference and an image of what is to come. From Revelation 11 we can see a portion of the temple being put together with all the people.

To me this is amazing and wonderful to see it match and fit together so perfectly. We hope you can see the Father’s mansion and the shadow it gives us of things to come. Thanks for stopping by! Make sure to come back again for more biblical insights!
