Seven Blessings

Seven Blessings

The book of Revelation is a book that shows us judgment, death and destruction but if you look closely you will also see great things. This book may seem like it only has doom and gloom but God has spoken blessings for us. The number seven has been a constant number throughout this particular book and this number symbolizes completeness. There are seven blessings found in the book of Revelation. Take a look at how the Lord will make you complete through these seven blessings.

Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand. Revelation 1:3 KJV

The first blessing is found in chapter one. Notice it states if you read and hear the words of this prophecy you will be blessed. We know the word becomes alive in our hearts when we read it and hear it. But we cannot simply stop there. We have been taught through the Word we must also act on it through faith.

And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. Revelation 14:13 KJV

This second blessing is found a little further in to the book in chapter 14. People who die during the tribulation time will find rest in him as well as a reward when they rise again. I remember wondering if it would be possible to receive an encouraging word from the Book of Revelation. The Lord did not waste a moment to prove He could. The Lord used this scripture one time to respond to that question to me on that same day. I remember feeling happy and pleasantly surprised that there was a positive thing the Lord could use to stir my heart and encourage me. I needed some encouragement from him that day and the fact this scripture came alive as I read it was perfect for me.

Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. Revelation 16:15 KJV

Jesus gives everyone a warning to be attentive to the signs that show his arrival is approaching and to make sure we continue in righteousness. Righteousness is the garment. One who does not have his spirit upon his arrival would be considered “naked” and everyone will see his shame.

And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God. Revelation 19:9 KJV

The fourth blessing is a blessing upon those who are called to the marriage supper of the lamb. The marriage supper will be an event that unites the bridegroom and the bride. These two are symbolic for Jesus and his followers both from Israel and the gentile nations. The wedding feast is also a symbolic event for those who will enter the kingdom of God. There are a few parables that paint a picture of a king hosting a wedding feast symbolizing this futuristic marriage. You should also take a look at more details of the marriage supper to get a full understanding of the actual feast.

Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. Revelation 20:6 KJV

When the seventh and last trumpet sounds the dead in Christ will rise in their incorruptible bodies and will meet the Lord in the air on his descent to earth. This is considered the first resurrection and there is a blessing upon those who rise at this event. They will rise as priests of God and Christ and will reign with the Lord Jesus for a thousand years.

Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. Revelation 22:7 KJV

Jesus warns us that he is coming quickly. We need to be prepared and keep what is written in the prophecy of this book in our hearts. When our minds are focused on heavenly things there is a blessing.

Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Revelation 22:14 KJV

This is the seventh and last blessing. When a person does the Lord’s commandments they will have the right to the tree of life. These commandments are not referring to the 10 commandments of the Old Testament in the Law of Moses. The commandments are the two that the whole law hangs on. It is the royal law – loving your God with all your heart, strength, soul and loving your neighbor as yourself. Only the believers in Christ will have the right to eat of the tree of life in the middle of the Holy City called “Jehovah Shammah” which means the “Lord is there”.

May you meditate on these seven blessings and keep your heart and mind focused on the things above.
