Taken captive by him at his will

In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; and that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. – 2 Tim 2:25-26 – KJV

~ Did you know that you are they one that can allow yourself to become a captive of the devil at your own will? That’s what the scripture says! How does that happen? If we deny the truth we have given access to the devil into our life. We are in opposition of God therefore we grant that evil one access. That is the reason for someone who knows the truth to teach someone else who is captive in humility. Not condescending, not angry or belittling a person but with love. Love is the key that opens the eyes of their heart to see the spiritual error. The Holy Spirit inside of use helps us to understand clearly what has happened. He is in fact our teacher.

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (John 14:26)

When a truth is shared the person hears it with their natural ears, maybe the person is shown the scripture and they see it with their natural eyes and the Spirit inside them bears witness. He will confirm the truth spoken.  People who have experienced this know what I mean. There is a slight joy that happens inside us. You think, “oh that’s good!”

On the other hand, your reasoning may come into the scene right after that and a person logically starts putting the piece of truth in to perspective. It doesn’t make sense anymore. Thoughts that cross the mind can be thoughts such as “that’s ridiculous!; that’s impossible!; or I was never taught that before”. Sometimes we just have to do our part sharing the truth and let the Holy Spirit water that seed and let it grow. It’s up to the Lord to keep working the truth in their heart.
