Wisdom of the World

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. ~ 1 Corinthians 3:19 KJV

One of the biggest ways people of the world stumble and cannot receive from God’s word is because they believe they have wisdom. In history it is known that the Greeks were always seeking wisdom and perfection. Even one of the Gospels (Luke) was specifically written for the Greeks of that time because God wanted to reach them too.

God’s ways are definitely not man’s ways or another way to say it, “human” ways. To walk by faith is a totally different beast in itself. You must believe in something you cannot see and act on it. As we grow up we are always taught to go to school, study and learn as much as you can. This is good but we must always have God in our lives teaching us the spiritual paths too. When we have a relationship with the Lord we have insights into the spiritual realm that cannot be learned through worldly knowledge.

According to the scripture above God views the wisdom of the world as foolishness. Now why would he think that way? When a person has a lot of book knowledge they may start to think they don’t need God because they can figure things out of their own. We were created to be curious and know things but we must always keep ourselves grounded in the Word of God. He is the all Wise One. Something happens to man when he is smart. He becomes vain. It’s all about me. When we take our eyes off God and put them on ourselves we can become unteachable and unreachable.

So remember to keep your eyes on Him. Remain humble and teachable. There is so much you can gain with a relationship with God. He has all the answers. He can show you perspectives you never thought. You are never too wise or too old to learn from Him.
