How the Enemy Deceives the Church

How the Enemy Deceives the Church

When we look at our world today we see there is rampant deception. We believe many in the church are deceived and not aware the enemy has fooled them. The bible tells us to be sober, vigilant and teaches us to be wise but this does not seem to be the actual case with the church. The church can become blind and forget what the Word teaches us.

Let us look at some simple warnings laid out for us in the bible:

  1. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5:8 KJV
  2. A froward man soweth strife: And a whisperer separateth chief friends. Proverbs 16:28KJV
  3. Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses. 1 Timothy 5:19 KJV

In these 3 scriptures there can be an avalanche of chaos if one is not applying the Word in the process. The first scripture tells us the enemy is looking around for someone. He is looking for someone who is weak in the faith, because even though he can’t read our minds he knows our weaknesses; he is looking for someone who is easily swayed against the truth and can be used for his purposes instead.

The easiest way the enemy can cause division is by planting seeds of corruption in someone who can make those seeds grow. When someone causes strife or division this is a work of the devil.

For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. James 3:16 KJV

The Lord finds 6 things an abomination. A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaks lies, and he that sows discord among the brethren. Proverbs 6:17 KJV

The Word of God tells us the way we should handle these instances and the steps we should do. Before we accept an accusation of an elder it should be done in front of two or three witnesses. This would confirm the accusation is true or not and not simply a made up story. But if the church really wants to do what is right in the sight of the Lord we need to remind ourselves and be faithful to His ways. Often times we want to change the world and be an influencer but we are not being doers of the Word with the simple things. The church is giving place to the devil and in these last days deception will only grow if we are not paying attention to his schemes.

We have a teaching on the site titled “Why is the church still sick?” Please take a look at it as well and understand the ways we open ourselves and unfortunately, can also experience physical issues in our body.  If we give place to the devil it gives him place to be destructive to the body of Christ. Let us start afresh after seeing these scriptures and stop the enemy in his tracks. We are overcomers when we are vigilant!
