The Thief Comes to Steal

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. ~ John 10:10 KJV

When Jesus spoke he was teaching us spiritual insights. In this particular scripture, he was not referring to a thief that comes and steals possessions out of your house when you are not present. He is talking about our enemy, known as Satan. He can come and steal spiritual things we have been blessed with when we give him the opportunity to do it.

Health, for example, is one of the blessings that he can come steal and sometimes kill us. We must always stand firm on the promises of God and not give place to anything different. We are healed by the stripes of Jesus and it was done more than 2000 years ago. We can access this healing through faith in what Jesus did for us. We can give place to the enemy when we do not obey what the Word of God taught us. The Holy Spirit is always teaching but there are times when we ignore his warnings and those are the times we can panic with the bad news we hear. If you understand that God wants you well then don’t give place to the enemy. You belong to the Lord and Our Heavenly Father. God is always interested in the health of your heart. Your soul, your mind, will and emotions make up your heart. It isn’t your beating muscle in your chest.

He wants emotional health for you because through emotional health we have physical health in our bodies. You are what you think. If you are constantly thinking you are sick or something will come upon you it is possible for this to happen. Then, unfortunately, you have to deal with the consequences of those thoughts.

Remember to focus on good things and those things that are lovely. This keeps you in health and keeps your body strong. You can do this! Then the thief has no place to steal from you.
